About Us

C.A.R.E.S. (Critter Adoption, Rescue, and Education Society) is a New Orleans animal rescue. We are volunteers dedicated to improving the lives of companion animals through rescue efforts, adoption, public advocacy, education, litigation, and direct intervention. While we mostly serve southeastern Louisiana, our non-profit organization has the ability to expand the service area as needed to meet our mission.

About the Director

Amanda Roberts has been involved in animal rescue for almost 18 years. She has put herself on the front lines in rescuing abused and neglected canines. Amanda has personally rescued hundreds of animals, has experience with abuse/neglect investigations, has helped to ensure justice for animal abusers, has administered many humane education campaigns, and has participated in disaster relief efforts. Following hurricane Katrina, Amanda organized the transport of over 150 animals to a no kill shelter in Illinois. Canines are her passion, and nothing pleases her more than finding safe, loving homes for them.
